No-marketing policy
This is a named commitment, not a slogan. Saralcare Ambulances will never market to anyone — viewers, contributors, providers, hosts, donors, or licensees. Adapted from OAQ's strict no-marketing posture.
Zero-marketing experience.
Your personal contact information — name, email, phone — will never be used for newsletters, promotional campaigns, commercial advertising, or any communication you didn't explicitly ask for.
What this means concretely
What we will never do
- Send a newsletter. We don't have one. We won't start one.
- Email you about new features unless you explicitly subscribe.
- Sell your contact information. To anyone. Ever.
- Run ads. Not display, not search, not native, not sponsored.
- Accept paid placement from any provider. No "top of the list" sponsorships.
- Take affiliate commissions on calls or bookings.
- Run a retargeting pixel.
- A/B test marketing copy against you.
- Use your data to profile your behaviour, or sell that profile.
- Send transactional emails dressed up as marketing.
- Send a "we miss you" or "your data is incomplete" guilt-trip email.
- Share your information with a "partner" for "joint marketing".
What we will do
- Reply to your specific inquiry. If you email us, we email back, once, on point.
- Coordinate verification calls. If you submitted a contribution, we may call the number you gave us to confirm.
- Notify monitor hosts about their host duties. Only what's needed to do the role, only as often as needed.
- Publish project updates publicly. Updates land in /changes, the CHANGELOG, and the GitHub repo. We don't push them.
- Post to LinkedIn / Twitter under the Saralcare brand when there's a milestone worth announcing — public, not personal, never via your inbox.
Why this matters for a civic project
Most directories that claim "free" make money two ways: ads (your attention is the product) and lead-gen (the providers pay per call routed to them). Both create incentives that compromise the data:
- Ads → the providers who pay more get more visibility, regardless of quality.
- Lead-gen → numbers are "tracking numbers" that route via the directory's switchboard. Calls fail more often, get billed back to the provider, and the directory profits from each route.
The numbers we list are the providers' own numbers. We don't route calls. We don't bill anyone. The economic incentive to compromise the data does not exist for us — and a public no-marketing commitment is how that posture stays enforceable. If we ever started marketing, you'd have grounds to call us out on this page.
How this is enforced
- Code: the site ships with no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, no third-party JS for marketing. See the layout source.
- Architecture: we don't have a CRM. There's no marketing-automation tool wired in. Adding one would be a visible code change in the public repo.
- Governance: this policy is referenced in GOVERNANCE.md. Any change requires an ADR with public 7-day comment window.
- Public correction log: if we ever violate this, it's a reportable issue. File at our issue tracker with subject
[NO-MARKETING VIOLATION].
Commercial licensing — the one carve-out
Businesses that want to ingest the dataset into a commercial product email us for a bilateral licence (see /license). That's a commercial conversation initiated by the counterparty, not marketing initiated by us. We don't publicise commercial pricing or solicit licensees.
