Privacy & data policy

The shortest version: we don't collect anything from people who just visit or use the directory. We collect minimum coordination details from people who actively contribute (verifiers, providers claiming a listing, monitor hosts, capacity-check requesters). We never market to anyone. Ever.

1. What we collect from viewers

Nothing.

No accounts, no logins, no cookies for analytics or advertising.
No IP logging beyond Cloudflare's standard edge logs (which we don't inspect).
Your saved providers, home pincode, and last-known location live only on your device in localStorage. They never leave the device.
No tracking pixels. No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No retargeting.

2. What we collect from contributors

When you actively contribute — submit a report, claim a listing, register a new service, request a capacity check, apply to host a clinic feed or be a city captain — we ask for the minimum information needed to do the thing you're asking.

Typically: name (or initials), email, phone, location.

Used only for:

Verification callback — we phone you to confirm your contribution is real.
Coordination — for monitor hosts and city captains, we email you about your role.
Direct response — answering your specific inquiry.

3. What we never do with your information

Never sold. Not to providers. Not to insurers. Not to anyone.
Never traded. No data partnerships, ever.
Never used for marketing. No newsletters unless you explicitly subscribe (we don't run one). No promotional campaigns. No retargeting.
Never profiled. We don't build a behavioural profile of anyone.
Never shared with third parties for profiling.

4. Data transparency & anonymity

Provider records are public. Phone numbers, addresses, vehicle types, affiliations — all open, all CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Contributor identities are private by default. CONTRIBUTORS.md is opt-in. PR authors can use a pseudonym (e.g. maintainer@ambulance.saralcare.com) instead of personal Git identities.
Verification calls log initials only (up to 4 characters), never full names of callers.
User reports never publish the submitter's full name, email, or phone. Optional initials only.
Provider claim flow verifies the claimant by phone but never publishes their direct line.

5. Disclaimer (mirroring OAQ's stance)

Data is for research, planning, and informed decision-making. For life-threatening medical decisions, always dial 108 first and verify any number by calling before relying on it. The maintainers of this site are not liable for data accuracy — see the full disclaimer for the legal framing.

6. India DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)

The DPDP Act applies when an entity processes personal data of Indian residents. Our posture:

We do not process personal data of viewers (none collected).
Personal data we collect from contributors is processed under the "specified, legitimate purpose" basis (Section 4) — coordination, verification, response.
You can request deletion at any time: email ashwinsk@saralcare.com with subject [DELETE MY DATA]. We honour within 48 hours.
We do not transfer data outside India for any processing other than Cloudflare's edge cache (which is global and standard).
When a Section 8 entity is registered, it becomes the named Data Fiduciary under DPDP. Until then, the natural person who owns the domain is.

7. Your rights

See what we hold about you: email us; we reply within 48 hours.
Remove your contributions: email [CONTRIBUTOR REMOVAL] and your data leaves the public dataset.
Correct anything: open a GitHub issue or email us.
File a grievance: if we don't respond, you can escalate to the Data Protection Board of India once it's operational under DPDP.

8. Cookies & local storage

No tracking cookies.
No analytics cookies (we run no analytics).
localStorage holds: sc.amb.saved, sc.amb.home-pincode, sc.amb.last-loc, sc.amb.notice-seen, sc.amb.dead, sc.amb.lang. These live only on your device; no server sees them.
Clear them via your browser's "Clear site data" at any time.
